Guiding The Dying Home
One Heart, One Family, One Community at a time.

The Heart of Dying Project is deeply committed to building heart centered, compassionate communities, able to support those in need of companionship throughout the natural cycles of life and death. Exploring our deaths through education, support and advocacy often allows for a more peaceful, contemplative quality of life, not only for ourselves but for those we may care for in the future.

The Sacred Art of Dying, Compassionate End-of-Life Care
Beginning soon - Northeast Ohio Medical University - Feb 28, Mar 7 & 14 2024
How is it possible to be truly present with someone who is dying? No matter their expected career/specialty choices, every medical student will likely find themselves facing this situation, at work, or at home. In this experiential coursework we will explore contemplative practices for embracing wholeness at the threshold of life where terminal illness, deep suffering, and spiritual pain may arise.Participants journey with the dying while practicing non-medical interventions in compassionate end of life care.

Compassionate Communities

We believe by creating bridges of support and care between individuals,
families and organizations, healing and companionship naturally follows. When we move death into a place of honor in our lives, like birth ~ we may choose to become more conscious of what a good death means to us.  How we share this wisdom with those we love, for the benefit of our children's children, becomes one of our greatest life teachings and legacy.

Its time to reconnect with the nature of our own life and death. Death unites us as human beings and is the golden thread we find woven throughout our tapestry of life. As we walk into the sacred, untouched place within our heart of hearts, its time to embrace a place we recognize deep within called home. Whether we are actively dying, are caring for someone who is, or are simply curious. Isn't it more likely we would enjoy the journey of  life more freely if we were able to somehow make peace with our eventual death?
